If you are attending IJCAI after SARA, you will want to fly into Edinburgh airport, which is the sensible choice for people also going to IJCAI. SARA will run one bus to IJCAI: it will depart shortly after the last SARA session on Friday July 29th.
Taxi from Edinburgh Airport to Airth Castle £45 (this is very expensive, so only worth it if sharing).
Bus from Airport to Waverley Bridge every 10 minutes cost £3. Waverley bridge is right next to Waverley train station. One should be able to buy a return ticket on this bus valid for one month, and so use the same service when travelling back to the airport from central Edinburgh.
Train from Edinburgh Waverley to Falkirk 4/5 trains per hour cost £4:30 single ticket. Train from Edinburgh to Grahamston trains every 30 minutes Cost £4:30 single ticket. NB Falkirk and Grahamston are the two train stations closest to the hotel.
There are no bus services to the hotel from Falkirk or Grahamston Cost of taxi to the hotel from Falkirk is £10 and from Grahamston is £7. So, if you are willing to travel by train from Edinburgh, it is quite cheap.
Also, PLEASE keep in mind that the audience is a general AI audience, it is not full of specialists in your particular topic.
Your presentation should probably start off by introducing the subject area, and should do a good job of explaining the "big picture" (how will abstraction, reformulation or approximation be used, and what problem is it expected to overcome ?). Highly esoteric technical details should probably be avoided whenever possible.
(2) Check the schedule below and make sure the time of your presentation is consistent with your travel plans, and that other details (e.g. title, authors) are correct.
(3) The audiovisual equipment that will be available is:
- one data projector
- one overhead projector
- a flip chart
If you have other needs, please notify Ian Miguel ianm@cs.york.ac.uk at once.
(2) You will put up your poster immediately before the poster session begins, and take it down later the same evening.
(3) There is not a specific place for each poster, just choose any place that is available. If there is some particular person who you want beside you, that's up to you to arrange.
(4) You will see in the schedule that Tuesday, 45 minutes is set aside before the poster session for a brief overview of the posters.
What will happen at that time is that each of you will be asked to introduce in 5 minutes his poster. Two or three slides no more please.
